Nickel Brikettes

Ni

Quality

Nickel briquettes or pressed pellets with a nickel content (Ni) of ca. 99.8%, different manufacturers.

Description

Nickel is a silvery-white, ferromagnetic (heavy) metal. It dissolves in diluted nitric acid.

The most important deposits for nickel are Canada, New Caledonia, Russia (Norilsk, Kola), Australia and Cuba (Moa bay and Nicaro). Recently, Madagascar has also joined with the Ambatovy project.

Every year, more than one million tonnes of nickel are produced worldwide, the bulk of which is in the production of stainless steels and nickel alloys.

However, nickel also serves as a corrosion inhibitor, i.e. metals are coated with a protective layer by means of galvano technique.

Nickel briquettes are, in this respect, also starting materials, e.g. for the nickel(II)-nitrate.
