Description


In nature, cobalt sulfate heptahydrate can be rarely found as the mineral Biebierit. The brick-red, hygroscopic powder is mostly made of elemental cobalt or cobalt oxides using sulfuric acid.

Cobalt sulfate is considered a carcinogen and is listed in the REACH Candidate List of SVHCs.

Among other things, it finds its uses e.g. as a trace element in the aquarium (water treatment) and the surface treatment (electroplating).
