Description


Lithium is found in the earth's crust in about 20 minerals, including as Petalit and spodumene, a basic raw material for many lithium salts. Lithium is obtained as silvery metal via various precursors through an electrolytic process. It must be well protected from exposure to air to prevent oxidation.

The metal has an extremely low density, is used as alloying elemnt in light metals, for example alloyed with Aluminium or Magnesium, in pharmaceutical applications and in the current lithium-ion battery technology.

 

Quality


Lithium metal is available in different purities, including as battery grade with abt. 99.9% lithium, mainly as ingot in various sizes as well as granules or foil.

   

Packaging


Lithium metal in ingots is packed e.g. in aluminum bags in barrels.

 

Storage


Limited stability in particular, suitable for dangerous, approved warehouses.
